Before your procedure:
How can I prepare for my procedure?
Read the following instructions to ensure your comfort and reduce the possibility of complications or delays.
Please read the following instructions carefully, as they have information on diet and what the doctors need to be aware of before the surgery/procedure.
- Please review the sample patient consent forms before arriving for your procedure. (Do not fill out or sign).
- We make every effort to adhere to schedule procedure times. However, occassional unforeseen delays may occur.
- Make arrangements for transportation- You will not be able to drive yourself after your procedure. Please make sure there is someone here to take you home. Public transportation is not an acceptable means of transportation (bus,taxi etc.) , unless accompanied by responsible adult.
- Do not eat or drink anything after midnight the night before your procedure. This includes chewing gum, mints, lozenges etc.
- Bathe or shower, and brush your teeth the morning of your procedure (please do not swallow water). Do not apply perfumes, lotions or deodorants.
- Medications: Please take medications for Blood pressure or heart problems. Take with small sip of water.Please bring your medication list with you the day of your procedure.
- Diabetics: Please speak to the LPN regarding your medications, and what you should and should not take.
- Latex allergy-Please let the LPN know if you have an allergy to Latex or rubber.
- Aspirin or Blood thinning meds-
Please advise your physician if you are taking aspirin, or medications that can thin your blood. Your physician may want you to stop these medications before your procedure.
- Pacemaker/Defibrillator- Please notify your physician if you have a Pacemaker and or Defibrillator.
- If you experience changes in your medical history or develop a cold or temperature prior to your procedure, please notify your physician.
- Leave all valuables at home- Patients please leave all jewelry and/or valuables at home. The surgery center does not have a place to keep your valuables. We will not be held responsible if your valuables should be lost or stolen. Bring your eyeglasses so that you are able to sign your consents.
- Wear comfortable, loose , warm clothing. The lobby tends to be cool at times.
- Bring crutches, slings, ice coolers etc. with you to the surgery cener.
- Bring your insurance cards and a photo identification.
- Please advise someone from our staff if you have special needs with communication.
- Advise our staff if you have any handicaps. We will do our best to accomadate you and your family.
A representative from the surgical center will call you the day before your procedure and give you an arrival time. If you have not received a phone call by 3 pm the day before your procedure, please call us at 863-291-4000. |
